"Abakanowicz"
Let us invite you to see the exhibition of one of the greatest artists of the second half of the twentieth century, a graduate of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in 1954. She has developed in the 60s his technique, involving the use of fabric to create to create a monumental, sculptural work.

In addition to its characteristic "abakan" - very large structure, usually hanging from the ceiling of a gallery, she has implemented since the 70s works corresponding to the shape of sculpture the human figure, in multiple "sets".

Exhibition of works by Magdalena Abakanowicz at the National Museum in Krakow is a review of her work from the '60s the early twenty-first century, realised on the basis of selected works from its enormous output. We present the work of its artists such as: made in her characteristic technique Abakan Round (1967) and the crowd carved in the form of fabric without a face - Shoulders (1976). The museum can also see the spectacular embryology, presented on an individual Abakanowicz exhibition in the Polish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale (1980) and the images painted by the sculptor of the series of faces that are not portraits (1983).

Magdalena Abakanowicz's art is difficult in the perception and interpretation; she is interested in difficult themes, universal ones, but often does interprete them from her own point of view based on personal experience.
